Therapy approaches
How I work
I wholeheartedly believe in a child's ability to grow into their best self! So, I exclusively use child-centered play therapy in my work with kids. This approach provides kids with the relationship, opportunity, and environment to work through what they need to work through, in their own timing, within the therapeutic relationship. Throughout the child-centered play therapy process, kids will naturally bring in their challenges and process through them in a way that builds internal tools like emotional vocabulary, increased emotional regulation, increased confidence, increased social skills, decreased aggression, and overall improved functioning in day-to-day life.
What parents can expect
Parents play an important role in the play therapy process! Before beginning play therapy with kids, I meet with parents (without the child present) to explain the play therapy process and so parents can discuss their concerns, goals, and other important information. Moving forward, I meet with parents approximately every 5 play sessions. This provides the opportunity for parents to update me on how things are going at home. During these meetings, I provide general overviews of what's happening in the play room and how parents can support progress at home. If you'd like to hear more about the play therapy process, please feel free to send me an email!
