Editorial Guidelines

Go Play Therapy exists to help parents find play therapists for their children. Our mission is a world full of happy kids that become happy adults.

These guidelines describe how we review directory content and maintain a clear, useful resource for families.

A Directory Dedicated to Play Therapy

Our directory welcomes therapists from different play therapy approaches. We do not require therapists to follow one model or philosophy.

Listings should accurately describe the therapist’s professional background, the children they work with, and the services they provide.

Human Review Before Publication

New profile submissions receive human review before publication. We check for clear, relevant information and concerns that need clarification or correction.

Therapists remain responsible for the accuracy of their profiles. Routine updates may appear without a new approval cycle; changes involving professional identity or licensing may require further review.

Publication is not an endorsement of every statement in a profile. Our separate Verification Process page explains what we check when awarding a license or registration verification badge.

Clear and Accurate Professional Information

Professional titles, licenses, degrees, and certifications must be represented accurately. Therapists should not imply that they hold an independent license, advanced qualification, or specialty credential that they have not earned.

We organize qualifications so that parents can distinguish licenses, play therapy credentials, academic degrees, and additional training. Repeated keywords, inflated titles, and unrelated promotional content do not belong in a professional listing.

Useful Information for Parents

Profile content should help parents understand:

  • Who the therapist helps.
  • How the therapist works.
  • What families can expect.
  • Where services are provided and how to make contact.

Content should be understandable without specialized clinical knowledge. It should not promise a cure, guarantee results, or make misleading claims about a therapist’s services.

Profiles must not disclose confidential client information.

Educational Content

Our educational pages explain play therapy and related topics for parents. They provide general information rather than a diagnosis or individualized treatment advice.

When describing a specific approach, we aim to distinguish its methods from those used in other play therapy approaches. Claims about research, qualifications, or treatment outcomes should have appropriate support.

We welcome corrections when information is inaccurate, unclear, or out of date.

Free Listings and Independent Review

Go Play Therapy is free for therapists to join and will always be free.

Therapists do not pay for profile approval or a verification badge. Participation in any other program or purchase from The Hicks Group, LLC is not required to be listed and does not establish verification.

Corrections and Reported Concerns

Therapists are responsible for keeping their information current. Parents, professionals, and other visitors can report concerns using “Report an Issue” on a profile or our Contact page.

We consider reports and may seek clarification, require changes, or remove content that does not meet our standards. A report does not automatically result in removal.
