Therapy approaches

  • Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT)

Who I help

I work with children experiencing emotional, behavioral, relational, and developmental challenges. Families often seek support when a child is struggling with anxiety, aggression, emotional regulation, self-esteem, family changes, grief, school concerns, or difficulties expressing what they are feeling. Because children often communicate more naturally through play than through words, play therapy gives them a developmentally appropriate way to work through what they are experiencing.

How I work

My approach is grounded in Child-Centered Play Therapy, a well-established model that allows children to use play as their natural language and the therapeutic relationship as a foundation for growth. Sessions are led by the child rather than directed by the therapist. I provide a consistent, accepting, and emotionally safe environment where children can express themselves freely, develop greater self-awareness, build confidence, and discover their own capacity for growth and change.

What parents can expect

Parents are an important part of the therapeutic process. We begin by meeting with parents or caregivers to understand the child’s needs, concerns, history, and family context before the child begins play therapy. Throughout treatment, I meet regularly with parents to discuss themes, progress, and ways they can support their child at home while preserving the privacy of the child’s therapeutic relationship. My goal is for parents to understand not only how their child is progressing, but also how they can become an important part of lasting change.
